Welcoming Christmas with Reynolds Academy
There have been lots of fantastic Christmas performances at Reynolds Academy this week.
The Early Years children performed ‘The Very Grumpy Sheep’, a traditional Christmas Nativity story, centred around a grumpy sheep who is cross and lazy, however when she meets the baby Jesus, she learns how to smile and never grumps again!
Nursery pupils also took part in a production of the classic Christmas Nativity complete with well-known characters such as the shepherds, angels and wise men.
Key Stage 1 children have been working hard and performed their take on ‘Lights, Camel, Action!’, a jam-packed cast of nativity celebrities celebrating the birth of Jesus with a dazzling dance show.
Personalities, including funky camels and a disco star, come together for a celebration like never before, with dances ranging from the tango to line dancing and ballet to disco.
Years 3 and 4 performed a version of ‘Inn-spectors’. The tale follows the story of Mary and Joseph as they arrive in Bethlehem hoping to find somewhere to stay.
Meanwhile, a group of nosey inspectors are scrutinising the health and safety of hotels and inns of Bethlehem.
Principal of the Academy, Rebecca Scott introduced the Year 5 and 6s show this morning and wished the children luck and made a special mention to the Year 6 children as this would be their last ever Christmas production at Reynolds Academy.
The children performed ‘Nativity Nightmares!’, a play within a play. This is set in a school, where teachers pull together the end of term Nativity, when a few disasters strike!
The show was particularly funny, with the children impersonating their teachers from Reynolds Academy.
The show included popular songs such as Madness’ hit, ‘It Must Be Love’ and ‘I’m Gonna Be (500 miles)’ by the Proclaimers.
To end the show, the children sang ‘We Wish you A Merry Christmas’ and invited the staff, parents and visitors to join in for one final festive sing-a-long.
Principal of Reynolds Academy, Rebecca Scott said: “We’ve had some wonderful performances this week in the lead up to Christmas. It certainly puts everyone in the festive mood. It has been great to see so many parents coming to support the children as well.”
